My name is Daniele Asoni (he/him), I’m an Italian and Swiss computer scientist, with interests in didactics of computer science, network and system security and privacy, and software engineering.
I’m currently working as a computer science teacher at Kantonsschule Freudenberg , a Swiss high school in Zurich (Langzeitgymnasium, grades 7 to 12). I am still enrolled in the teaching diploma in computer science program at ETH Zürich, and as part of it I have already completed the additional qualifications for teaching in volitional schools, the Berufspädagogische Zusatzqualifikation .
Until recently I worked as a Professional Software Engineer at Adnovum , a Swiss company dedicated to creating high-quality digital solutions for various clients, with security as one of the key focus points. My main project was the expansion and maintenance of an authentication solution for a large financial institution.
Previously I spent four years in a doctorate program in the Network Security Group at ETH Zürich, doing research mainly on anonymous communication networks and DNS privacy, as well as some work on IoT security, before deciding to drop out of the program to pursue teaching and other new challenges, solving more concrete and relevant problems than those I faced in academia, which were interesting in their own right, but often too hypothetical and impractical for my liking.
